I wish you all a very happy and prosperous New Year. It is with immense gratitude to all members of IRIA that I find myself today in this honourable position of Editor In Chief of IJRI. It is a great honour and equally larger responsibility to be the editor of our country's leading scientific journal. I promise you to stand up to your expectations. Today IJRI has established itself as a foremost scientific journal, largely due to untiring efforts of my predecessors Maj. Gen. Dhawan, Dr. Mukund Joshi and Dr. O.J.Tavri with able assistance of Dr. Bhavin Jankharia and the members of the erstwhile Editorial board. I will try my best to continue and if possible enhance the good quality work put in for the journal. I will need active support from one and all in this endeavour to raise our journal to internationally acceptable level. I will use my good offices with the help of the well wishers and seniors to get our journal indexed. I request all the authors across the country to actively send scientific papers, articles, radiology quiz, good case reports for continuous up-gradation of our journal quality. Authors should expect prompt acknowledgement of arrival of their paper. The manuscript is reviewed by selected editors and referees. The author is informed regarding any changes required or acceptance of the paper for publication. This process should normally not take more than three months. It is often said that the fundamental task of a reviewer and editor is to detect and describe flaws, however this is not totally true and is normally intended to improve the paper. Papers must be clear concise, correct and complete before publication. It would be a good idea to set the paper aside for a week or so and then try to read it as a reviewer might. Such self imposed delay will help the author to assess his paper more objectively. The aim of our journal is to provide a forum to our Radiologists across the country to share their experiences and knowledge. I appreciate high quality of manuscripts, co-operation of authors, work put in by dedicated editorial board and care and consideration of many guest reviewers till today and hope that this healthy trend will continue for ever. Long live IRIA & IJRI.
